The Complete Guide to Being Supportive

Introduction: What does it mean to be supportive?

Supportive people are those who have a positive attitude and are willing to help others. They are there for you when you need them the most. They are always ready to offer a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on or an encouraging word. Supportive people don’t judge others, they just want what is best for them in life and will do anything they can to make that happen.

The word “support” comes from the Latin word “sustentāre”, which means “to hold up”. This is why supportive people will always be there for you, holding you up when you need it most, no matter what happens in your life.

What is the Best Way to Be Supportive?

What is the best way to be supportive?

There are many ways to be supportive and it’s important to remember that no one way is better than another. It’s also important to recognize that not everyone needs the same level of support. For example, someone who has just lost their job may need a lot of emotional support, while someone who just got a promotion may need more practical help.

                                      <ins
                                      class="adsbygoogle"
                                      style="background:none;display:inline-block;max-width:800px;width:100%;height:60px;max-height:60px;"
                                      data-ad-client="ca-pub-5756847696141575"
                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

An important thing to remember is that you don’t have to be perfect and there is no such thing as being too supportive. Just try your best and do what feels right in the moment.

Finally, you can offer practical support by helping them solve their problems or challenges.

How Parents Can Provide Support for Their Children

Parents are the first and most important support system for their children. They can provide encouragement, guidance, and help children to develop good habits.

Parents should be aware of their child’s emotional needs. They need to make time for themselves so that they can have the energy to support their child. Parents should also be aware of the signs of addiction or mental health issues in their child so that they can get help for them as soon as possible.

10 . Remind them that they are not alone

How to Be Supportive and Provide It in the Right Way

There is no universal way of being supportive. To be supportive, you have to know the person and what they need.

                                      <ins
                                      class="adsbygoogle"
                                      style="background:none;display:inline-block;max-width:800px;width:100%;height:60px;max-height:60px;"
                                      data-ad-client="ca-pub-5756847696141575"
                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

If you are someone who needs help and you have someone who is a good listener, you may find that just talking about your problems for a while will make you feel better.

For someone else, it might be to talk about how they plan to solve their problem.

For someone else, it might be to talk about what they are doing to try to make themselves feel better.

What is the Ideal Supportiveness?

The Ideal Supportiveness is a new way of looking at the concept of supportiveness. It is not about just being supportive but about being the type of person that you would want to be supported by.

Supportiveness is not just about giving someone a hug when they are feeling down or giving them words of encouragement. It’s also about knowing what your friend needs and providing it for them without being asked for it.

How Does Lack of Supportiveness Affect Relationships?

Lack of supportiveness affects relationships in many ways. It can lead to feelings of loneliness, insecurity, and self-doubt. It can also lead to feelings of anger and resentment.

A lack of supportiveness in a relationship can be caused by a variety of things including feeling like you are not being heard, feeling like you are being taken advantage of, or feeling like you are not getting your needs met. Some people may feel that their partner is not supportive when they constantly criticize them or they never offer any praise or encouragement.

How Can We Take Proactive Steps Towards Being More Supportive?

The first step in being more supportive is to make sure that we are not making assumptions about other people. It is important that we take the time to listen to what others are saying and understand their situation.

Another important way of being more supportive is by acknowledging the person’s efforts and accomplishments. We need to be sensitive towards how hard it can be for people who are struggling with a mental health condition. This can be done by showing empathy and understanding, as well as providing them with support when they need it most.

Conclusion: How Can You & I Be More Supportive?

It is not easy to be supportive when you are feeling down. But it is important to be supportive and not judge the person going through it.

Here are some ways in which you can help someone who is going through a tough time:

– Show that you care by asking how they are feeling and listening without judging them.

– Encourage them to talk about what they are going through and offer solutions if they need help.

– Let them know that there will be better days ahead and remind them of the things that make them happy.

Are you someone who has big dreams but feel that you aren’t committed enough? There are a lot of other people who are in the same boat. We have the desire to follow our passion, possess the roadmap to get there and sometimes have all the resources we need, yet fail to begin or reach the destination. Have you wondered what is it that we lack? To stay motivated, one has to start somewhere, get used to the task knowing the complications and keep doing it while overcoming all the failures. Motivation alone cannot get you closer to your dreams. It takes a lot of effort, determination, sacrifice and diligent work to get to that point. And most of the time it needs you to deliver consistently even after reaching there. So how do you keep yourself going against all the odds?

Using the Goldilocks principle to stay motivated

I read about a technique that can help keep you at peak motivation for a longer duration. It’s called the Goldilocks rule. It suggests that, if you maintain the challenge at an optimal sweet spot, then you won’t feel demotivated or feel discouraged. The trick is to keep the challenge at a manageable difficulty level.

                                      <ins
                                      class="adsbygoogle"
                                      style="background:none;display:inline-block;max-width:800px;width:100%;height:250px;max-height:250px;"
                                      data-ad-client="ca-pub-5756847696141575"
                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

If you feel the challenge/ task is too easy, then you won’t do it as you will grow bored at some point. But if the task is too hard, then you will get discouraged and lose the will to do it. So it is recommended to do the tasks that are at the right difficulty level. And thereby maintaining the motivation at a higher state all the time.

While this is true, it doesn’t mean to ignore tasks that are less or more challenging. Sometimes it’s worthwhile to focus on them too, some may even grow challenging down the line. Or if you get better at that task, then you will naturally want it to be more challenging.

Why do you lose motivation after a few days?

Usually, people take new resolutions at the start of a new year and start with determination. But they can’t continue beyond a certain point for some reason. It’s not that they lack information and eventually lose interest over the course of time. They also know the importance of doing it and the benefits that come with them. But the missing factor can be self-doubt, missing a clear vision, not focusing on your goals, wanting instant gratification or all of these combined. Hitting the gym is one of the most common examples. You can go join one and continue the habit for a week or so. But you can lose interest after that as you won’t see results immediately. If you start doubting if it’ll get you to where you want, then you will think of reconsidering the decision itself.

                                      <ins
                                      class="adsbygoogle"
                                      style="background:none;display:inline-block;max-width:800px;width:100%;height:60px;max-height:60px;"
                                      data-ad-client="ca-pub-5756847696141575"
                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

The world is designed in a way that benefits people who are able to make consistent work in a better way. The ones who seek instant gratification are left behind in the race. It is so easy to forget your purpose amidst all the distractions, but the rewards that you are really after will only come to you if you walk the path that is harder.

How do you keep your motivation at Peak?

The best way to stay motivated is by remembering the reason why you started. A simple example such as keeping a picture of you doing what you like, on display, will help you to reorient the focus that looks like it’s about to shift. This will influence you to do the work you have to. A constant reminder of what you would be with or without the goal will go a long way in helping the cause.

Motivation doesn’t come on its own without getting started in the first place. You have to take up the challenge, like it and start getting used to it. Once you start to see the results, it becomes harder for you to give up. Until then, you have to keep putting in the

Additional factors to help you stay motivated

If you are planning to make use of the Goldilocks principle, these factors will also improve the probability for you to stay motivated.

Breakdown the Goals

You have always heard people tell you to keep your dreams sky high. Sometimes it can be daunting as it will discourage you from pursuing them as they look unattainable at some point. If your dream scares you, then break it down into simpler ones. This makes it easier for you to believe that it can be accomplished and can also help you get things done much faster. For example, constructing a building may look like a big task. But if you focus on the things one day at a time, it will help you make things easier and the progress trackable.

                                      <ins
                                      class="adsbygoogle"
                                      style="background:none;display:inline-block;max-width:800px;width:100%;height:60px;max-height:60px;"
                                      data-ad-client="ca-pub-5756847696141575"
                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

Have a Plan of Action

It is important to have a plan of action to guide you on your steps to reach the goal. Without a clear vision and a plan, you will only move along endlessly into random paths. Ultimately that will lead to regret and resentment. It is better to chart out how you want to get closer to your dreams if you want to make them a reality.

Reward Yourself

This is overlooked most of the time when you keep working hard towards your goals. Sometimes it is necessary to keep checkpoints during the course and reward yourself well for all that you’ve done. If you don’t think you are deserving enough for all the tireless hours you spent, then think again. Rewarding yourself can push you up when you hit a wall and prevents you from experiencing burn out.

Keep Positive people around

Keeping people who are supportive and want the best for you around will make it less complicated. They can act as someone who you can lean on during tough times and also help you track your progress. When you stop focusing on the goals, they can help you get back on the horse. They can also be supportive of your goals even when they have only a tiny part to play.

Keep Track of Your Progress

As someone following our passion, we need to constantly have a check on our progress. It is a feeling of satisfaction and relief that our work is taking a form and beginning to make sense. To have that sensation and tracking the progress regularly will help you stay motivated in the long run.

What is the one thing that makes you jump out of bed and feel happy for doing it? If there’s something that is engaging and gives you a sense of pleasure, then you might have found your ikigai. If you haven’t, there are a lot of reasons why you should get one. Finding your ikigai means to find your reason for existence, something that will change your life and in turn create a positive impact in other’s life. Those who have a clear sense of purpose combined with the ability to empower others by their actions are truly remarkable. They know what they want to do in life and have clear goals to get there. The people who have found ikigai are generally conscientious and self-disciplined to work towards their dream.

What is Ikigai?

The two words – “Iki” meaning Life and “Kai” meaning the realization of what one hopes for, put together form the term “Ikigai”. Ikigai is the highest level of satisfaction that a human being could achieve that makes their life significant while unleashing their inner potential. In simple terms, Ikigai means “something that makes life worth living”.

                                      <ins
                                      class="adsbygoogle"
                                      style="background:none;display:inline-block;max-width:800px;width:100%;height:250px;max-height:250px;"
                                      data-ad-client="ca-pub-5756847696141575"
                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

While some people focus on material wealth and fame, there are others who focus on values much bigger than that. This brings them the biggest satisfaction that all the money in the world cannot provide. The feeling of wanting to create a better world for others gives pure joy and a sense of relief that you’ve found your reason for existence. You can not replace this value or give it up for something else, as this is something inscribed within oneself.

The Elements of Ikigai

Ikigai is seen as the convergence of these four elements:

Passion – What you Love doing.

Mission – What the World Needs.

Vocation – What you are Good at.

Profession – What you can get Paid for.

To discover your ikigai you have to find the correlation between these four elements. If you have some activity that covers these four elements, then that’s your ikigai!

                                      <ins
                                      class="adsbygoogle"
                                      style="background:none;display:inline-block;max-width:800px;width:100%;height:60px;max-height:60px;"
                                      data-ad-client="ca-pub-5756847696141575"
                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

How Not to Find your reason for Being

The reason for me starting off with this is because of the countless occasions where people have gone wrong. Some people never find their ikigai even after many years of existence. So what’s the factor they are missing? People take the long route and sometimes end up in a loop trying to find their ikigai.

I’ve seen people start off with “what you can get paid for” as the first step. This keeps them going for the short-term. Sometimes, people do make some money. But after a while, they grow tired of it and start losing interest over time. While wealth is important, it shouldn’t be the primary deciding factor in finding your ikigai.

There are countless arguments as to where you need to start. I recommend one among Passion and Mission. The world has a lot of problems to solve. If what you love is aligned to the mission, it’s much easier to work towards the other two elements.

Most of us are pushed into work that we don’t feel like doing or continue doing what we are not good at. By doing that, you lose yourself over the process and never live a fulfilling life. If you’re stuck in a similar situation, I strongly recommend you to find a bridge to connect all the four elements together in order to live the life you are destined for.

How to find your Ikigai?

Hector Garcia and Francesc Miralles break down the ten rules in their book Ikigai The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life, to help anyone find their own ikigai.

                                      <ins
                                      class="adsbygoogle"
                                      style="background:none;display:inline-block;max-width:800px;width:100%;height:60px;max-height:60px;"
                                      data-ad-client="ca-pub-5756847696141575"
                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

Stay active and don’t retire.

Leave urgency behind and adopt a slower pace of life.

Only eat until you are 80 percent full.

Surround yourself with good friends.

Get in shape through daily, gentle exercise.

Smile and acknowledge people around you.

Reconnect with nature.

Give thanks to anything that brightens our day and makes us feel alive.

Live in the moment.

Follow your ikigai.

If you’re just exploring the way to find your ikigai, start with the hardest part – What the world needs. This is where most of the successful people start. If you know what the world lacks, you naturally find a clear sense of what needs to be fixed in order to make it better.

Then work your way to identify the strong points of you and find a correlation between your strong points and the world’s needs.

If you have made it up to this point, you should be loving what you do obviously. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be doing it in the first place. You’re making the world a better place, love what you do and on top of it, you have identified your personal strengths.

If you are solving a problem that the world needs, this by itself brings in greater value to most of our lives. But there are chances that you can make a living out of this and make material wealth. Thus you can continue to keep doing the work to get satisfaction and live a fulfilled life.

What is your Ikigai?

Ikigai emphasizes process and immersion rather than a final aim. So it’s not necessary that you only need to have one ikigai. And you can change your life’s purpose anytime you want, provided you have a clear vision to back it up and consistently work towards it. Ask yourself these questions in order to make the process simple:

What is your motive or cause for doing it – The greater the purpose, the harder you need to work. Causing a change in the world requires a lot of effort and if you aren’t putting yourself on the line, chances are that you will be hidden among the crowd. The cause need not necessarily be a big one as even the smallest ones have significant effects in the long run.

What are you great at – If you haven’t mastered anything yet, work towards making yourself better. Your strength should add additional value to the people and benefit the cause.

What you love doing – when you truly love doing something, it takes you into the state of bliss and makes you feel alive by making you momentarily forget every other problems that you have.

Why do people value you – If you are adding great value to the community, people will start valuing you for what you are. Something that they would pay you for in exchange for the services you provide.

Discover the Japanese secret to a long and happy life with the internationally bestselling guide to ikigai.

Conclusion

Let’s take a moment to think of all the good things we would like to bring into this world to make it a better place. Life should have a purpose and meaning, for us to be worth living it. Work towards finding your ikigai and enjoy the process. The journey to a fulfilling life is just beginning. Take one step every day to get towards your ikigai.

Have you ever been in an ecstatic state to such a point that you feel as though you are using your complete potential? In this state you don’t feel much pain, you immerse yourself completely and go with the flow. The flow state is the most productive state of mind and helps you bring out your true potential.

What is the state of Flow?

Dr. Mihály Csíkszentmihályi describes the Flow as the state of complete immersion in an activity with full involvement and enjoyment where the outside factors no longer matter. He explained in a TED Talk about how the flow affects a person and brings out his peak performance. People all around the world would have experienced flow at some point in their life. When you do something that you’re really passionate about and have a sense of good understanding, you enter the flow state after some time. The Flow state is almost as if you have no conscious control over your body but you still give your full potential into doing an activity.

                                      <ins
                                      class="adsbygoogle"
                                      style="background:none;display:inline-block;max-width:800px;width:100%;height:250px;max-height:250px;"
                                      data-ad-client="ca-pub-5756847696141575"
                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

The brain controls the actions subconsciously and the pieces fall in the right places one after the other. Because of this, you are no longer bound to notice any other senses such as pain, emotions, etc.

The Flow state is sometimes referred to as “The Zone”. It is characterized by complete immersion as a result of enjoyment, the challenge, and ability that allows you to bring out your full potential.

When do you experience Flow?

You enter the flow state when you do the actions that you feel passionate about and excite you. In other words, if the activity is not boring and challenging enough to keep you engaged, you are more likely to enter the Flow state.

                                      <ins
                                      class="adsbygoogle"
                                      style="background:none;display:inline-block;max-width:800px;width:100%;height:60px;max-height:60px;"
                                      data-ad-client="ca-pub-5756847696141575"
                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

For example, if you play basketball with passion and determination, at a point in your career, you might experience Flow when you really enjoy doing it. While this is a factor, it isn’t inevitable that you will experience it no matter what.

It isn’t necessary that you enter the Flow only during intense sports. Some people find flow even in the smallest of things such as cooking, writing and even while performing music, dance, etc. But the experience is all the same that they gave their best without them putting effort consciously.

How does it feel to be in the Flow state?

After the research and study conducted by Csíkszentmihályi, they interviewed numerous people. They found these common traits among the people when they were in the state of Flow.

You have clear goals, find the activity doable and well within your knowledge to finish it with ease.

There’s an intrinsic motivation behind it and that’s influencing you to pursue it.

You focus on the task at hand so much that you lose track of time and immerse yourself completely.

Have a proper balance between the challenge presented and the ability you possess.

You lose self-consciousness and find yourself doing that task sub-consciously as a result of doing that repeatedly.

It gives you an ecstatic feeling and you no longer feel connected to the world as your actions go well past reality.

The external factors such as pain, emotions no longer hold you back in any way and you feel highly motivated.

Depicting the state of Flow

This graph illustrates the conditions that must be met to enter the flow state. The challenge and the skills that you possess must complement each other and should be fairly high. Notice that the right balance in both of the aspects is required to get to the point that it excites you and puts you in full immersion. Whether you lack the skill or the challenge, the result isn’t likely to get you far.

If you are really skilled but have a moderate challenge level, then it implies that you have control over the task but it needs to be more challenging. On the other hand, if you make it really challenging but lack skills, then anxiety is bound to strike you. Based on this graph, you can work towards the aspect that you lack and enter the flow state.

Have you ever woken up and said, “No, I can’t do this anymore”? Trust me, most of us feel the same way at times. It’s not that we find the daily routine scary, it’s just that we’re tired and don’t feel motivated enough to do anything. Giving up is not really an option. When you try to run away from things, you leave behind everything that mattered to you.

Why do you feel like giving up?

People generally think of giving up if they don’t have a plan of action or don’t see the desired results. Sometimes, there’s just no reason. You lose hope, feel tired of everything and don’t want to move out of your bed. Have you wondered why you felt that way? It may be self-doubt, despair, failure or any demotivating factors.

                                      <ins
                                      class="adsbygoogle"
                                      style="background:none;display:inline-block;max-width:800px;width:100%;height:250px;max-height:250px;"
                                      data-ad-client="ca-pub-5756847696141575"
                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

While it’s easy to give up, it even easier to stay on the path once you start to believe in yourself and your goals.

When you are just starting out, you won’t know if a decision is good or bad. You doubt yourself thinking if it’s all worth it. But tell yourself that it will all make sense in the end. And the pain you go through today will be replaced by the results you get tomorrow.

Remember why you started

Sometimes when things get hard we visualize all the bad things that happened to us. Instead, think about why you kept going after all this time. And if you’re reading this, your track record of getting through the bad days is 100%. ‘The reason why’ will overshadow all the bad things you endured and supercharge you to keep you going on the path. Remember the people who tell you that you can’t do anything? It’s time to prove them wrong.

                                      <ins
                                      class="adsbygoogle"
                                      style="background:none;display:inline-block;max-width:800px;width:100%;height:60px;max-height:60px;"
                                      data-ad-client="ca-pub-5756847696141575"
                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

Everyone gets demotivated at some point from doing the things that they even love the most. You need to strengthen your resolve and see that your purpose defeats all the other factors that hinder you. When your goal is clear, it takes courage to go after it and achieve when everybody thinks it’s impossible.

Focus on the Process

Most often, when we attempt something and don’t quite get there, it often leads to frustration. It’s important to not only focus on the outcome but also to enjoy the process to get to it. After all, it takes time to get the desired result. Instead of being result-oriented, be process-oriented to enjoy the simple things that you learn along the way. There’s a famous saying for this, “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” If you learn to do the things you like in a way that brings you joy, you will never have to think of giving up.

While being focused on the process, don’t lose sight of the goal. Even if you win the battle, the war matters the most. The process sets you up and nurtures you till you reach the destination, that is the ultimate goal.

Feel the Pain and grow stronger

Pain makes you stronger and helps you grow both physically and mentally. There isn’t a better teacher than pain, as once you learn to endure it, you master the art of not giving up. Those who do not understand true pain can never understand true peace.

Sometimes you must hurt in order to know, fall in order to grow, lose in order to gain because life’s greatest lessons are learned through pain.

When pain teaches you something, endure it, learn from it and grow yourself. After everything you’ve gone through in life, you must not feel like giving up. Tap into your strength from within and realize that you’re meant for greatness.

Keep yourself on the move

The discomfort that you feel today is temporary and it will change for the better. Persistence will be the driving factor to keep you working hard and making things happen. When you feel down, write what you feel and what pulls you down. This will help you evaluate what you’ve been doing wrong to cope up with it and take corrective measures. All the work that you do has meaning to it and will make sense once you start performing it regularly.

For example, exercising regularly trains your body and mind. When you do it for the long-term you will begin to see changes that benefit you. By regularly tracking your progress with To-Do lists, you can be more productive and also keeps you from deviating from the goals.

Nothing great will come if you quit

It’s very common that we want results and the rewards that come with it but don’t want to put in the necessary effort. When you want to be like someone, ask yourself if you have what it takes to be like them. Are you putting in the efforts like them? Are you willing to fail like them and keep trying without giving up? If you only read the success stories, that’s not enough. Try to learn the failures, pain, loss, problems and every hardship behind all those stories.

If you begin to see success, you will never regret doing something. Sometimes the beginning is difficult but once you take the first step, there’s nothing holding you back.

                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

Keep positive people around you

It is so easy to feel demotivated by someone when they push their opinions on you. But it feels more inspiring when the right person pushes you to achieve something great. You will need all the encouragement that you can get from the positive people. They usually have your back when things don’t go the way you want it to. Having positive influencers can be a distinguishing factor between you and someone who has already given up. After all the struggle, you might need someone to lean on when things don’t go as planned out.

Bottomline

Keep going until you reach the destination and cross all the hurdles that life has for you. Giving up doesn’t mean you let only yourself down, it means that you let down everyone who trusts you. It may be easier to leave behind everything and turn your back, but it takes all that you have to show you are capable of much more than that. Life is not always fair or filled with good things, you must learn to go through the night to enjoy the sunrise.

We all have faced fearful times and adversity in life and it gets really hard to believe in yourself anymore. You try to think positive but that doesn’t get you that far. Because you force yourself to be positive but self-doubt holds you back. Self-doubt stops you right before you even begin sometimes. It also creates unwanted thoughts and many scenarios in your head that will never happen.

Failure comes to everyone and what matters is how we deal with it instead of numbing out and blaming it on fate. Instead of searching for reasons and playing the role of the victim, take control of the situation at hand and start working on it.

                                      data-ad-format="auto"

                                      </ins>

If you want to make people dream, you’ve got to start by believing in that dream yourself.

Why should you believe in yourself?

While I write about all these topics, it occurred to me “why should I bother?” That’s when I realized why I picked up the interest in the first place. The reason for doing this sounded better than the reason I had for giving up. Remember when you have a vision that is hard to let go of, giving up is no longer an option. There will be many setbacks and failures. You have to learn to pick yourself up, learn to correct what went wrong and go back to achieve it. The future self must thank you for what you do today. Have belief in yourself that you will no longer wait for the good times and start taking action to get them.

Are you afraid of failure?

Trying and failing is not a bad thing. It takes courage to stand up when you’re weak and believe in things again. Being not accepted by anyone, having enemies and making mistakes is not something to regret. It’s the steps you took to overcome all these, that matters. Why aren’t you accepted by anyone? – It’s because you are unique and don’t fit in with other simpletons. Why do you have enemies? – Because you no longer give in to the crowd’s opinion and have your own voice. Why do you make mistakes? – It’s an opportunity to learn from it. You still have room to grow even further. The best people that ever lived weren’t accepted initially either until they proved themselves.

                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

Find out why you doubt yourself.

Self-doubt drags you down from achieving what you’re meant to. Why don’t you believe in yourself? Maybe it’s the person who tells you that it isn’t possible. You’ve probably grown up hearing that you are not destined for that and should give up that dream. The voices of others may have held you back at that time, but it’s your voice that matters.

The next time someone tells you that your dreams are impossible to achieve, ask yourself “Was it me that worked all this time to get where I am or they?”. It’s encoded in your brain that you are meant for this and that’s why you have to do that. Instead of thinking that “I’ll never be good at it” think “what separates me from the rest of them” and “what can I do better to be the best?”. The changes start with self and the next time you think about failure, calm yourself down and tell yourself “I’ll just try again”.

Surround yourself with positive people.

We have instances where we have people voicing out their opinions when we didn’t even ask from them, in the first place. These opinions don’t just steal your energy, but also stop you in your tracks. All that confidence you built up just goes down the drain and you end up feeling desperate.

While it’s not easy to push away these people (maybe friends or acquaintance ), it is still possible to make your mind up to not pay heed to these opinions. Think of how you feel when you do something that you love to do.

It’s really important to have positive people around you at all times. They will guide you or give you the push that you desperately need at times when you’re stuck. Sometimes that’s all you need to go and be yourself. You always need someone that accepts you for the way you are and help you get back up after a rough day. These tiny things matter and will get you to one step closer to the person you wish to be.

Keep trying over and over again.

Push past your comfort zone and do things that discomfort you. Sometimes you will find it easier to do things that you thought were hard and who knows, you may even discover yourself along the way. Without trying and putting yourself in the shoes of others, you may never know what lies ahead. Pick habits that boost you mentally and physically and work your way up. Through multiple attempts, you will come to realize that you are more capable and stronger than you think you are and you will begin to believe in yourself.

If things were easy, everyone would be doing it. It’s because they are tough that it needs special people to go after it, despite many failures. It’s possible that you can improve over time and get happiness and other goals you want, by putting in the effort required.

What matters is not the result, but the attempts you make and the efforts you put in every single day. When you have enough progress, success will follow.

Treat yourself better.

Sometimes we don’t give ourselves the love and trust that we deserve. It’s vital to place that faith on you and learn to trust that you can get better things if you put your mind on it and work towards it. While we don’t want others to fail, it’s important to not let us fail too. Give more credit for what you are and be the best version of yourself.

Bottomline

Self-doubt never really disappears, you just learn how to cope up with it. If you never go out of your comfort zone and take a risk, you may never know what you are capable of. If you want to change yourself for the better, go try something that scares you and you’ll appreciate that you’ve tried that when you look back at it someday. After all, trying and failing doesn’t hurt as much as regretting something you didn’t do. It doesn’t matter if it’s good or bad, but nothing will work if you don’t believe in yourself.

Millennials, also known as Generation Y (usually born between the early 1980s and mid-1990s) are recently being bashed around everywhere.

You must have come across a lot of blogs and videos going viral on social media calling the millennials a lot of things. They are being referred to as entitled, lazy, burnout generation and many others.

                                      <ins
                                      class="adsbygoogle"
                                      style="background:none;display:inline-block;max-width:800px;width:100%;height:250px;max-height:250px;"
                                      data-ad-client="ca-pub-5756847696141575"
                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

No other generation has been hated, publicly criticized and reviled as the millennials, which suggests to us that it requires deeper insight. An estimate states that by 2025, most of the workforce will comprise the millennials. Millennials are poised to reshape the economy. However, a question arises – why so much hate so much when they are considered to change the way everything functions?

Factors why millennials are considered as entitled:

Here are some of the factors why millennials are considered as entitled by everyone else:

Parenting

Almost all things start with parenting. The parents teach the millennials that they are special and that they are can get everything in their life without having to work for it. The parents usually think they should provide their kids with whatever they couldn’t have while growing up. This is a noble parenting style that is common but is it going a bit overboard? Because providing them with everything makes them not value the things that much. In-person relationships are getting rare these days as they prefer sitting on a couch on weekends to going out with friends. And the best part is that most of the parents still follow the same parenting style.

                                      <ins
                                      class="adsbygoogle"
                                      style="background:none;display:inline-block;max-width:800px;width:100%;height:60px;max-height:60px;"
                                      data-ad-client="ca-pub-5756847696141575"
                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

Technology

Technology has been with the millennials right from the time they were born. Engagement with technology releases dopamine. It feels good for the short-term. They have Facebook, Instagram and almost all of them have access to social media without restrictions. The media feeds the millennials lies about everything and the worst part is they think its the truth. They act all tough but in reality, they lack self-esteem and start numbing out. The temporary relief that technology provides cannot be a replacement for real-life relationships.

Impatience

Millennials are born and brought up in a world of instant gratification. If you want something like food or things, you can get it delivered in a matter of minutes. This makes them think that whatever they want, they can have it just like that without putting in the necessary efforts. Millennials need to learn the value of patience and how it is essential in everyday life. Anything obtained without putting in hard work and learn the lesson along the way will crumble at some point. The journey is sometimes the best part of getting to a destination.

Environment

Millennials can personalize everything they come across on the internet. To customize everything to their liking is impossible. Short term focus can never get them to reach where they want to in their career. They reject traditional career paths and normal work practices thinking that they deserve more and go after entrepreneurship. When reality hits them hard, they find it hard to cope up with it and turn to these instant gratification measures to find temporary pleasure. They can do a better job if we teach them about the values and the qualities to survive and ask for help when needed without hesitation.

How are Millennials different?

To call a whole generation as entitled is easy. But there are other facts to consider from their standpoint as well. They are the most diverse generation after Generation Z as a result of interracial marriages, fertility patterns and other factors.

While there are many things about the priorities and expectations of millennials, these are some things that the millennials do differently than the previous generations:

                                      <ins
                                      class="adsbygoogle"
                                      style="background:none;display:inline-block;max-width:800px;width:100%;height:60px;max-height:60px;"
                                      data-ad-client="ca-pub-5756847696141575"
                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

Make a Better financial decision.

Millennials learn about financial management out of their interest after seeing their parents do it over the years. It helps them to make a better decision than the previous generation who found it difficult to manage everything without much intervention of technology. They find renting as a cheaper and better option compared to buying a house. It certainly allowed them to go debt-free, even if renting isn’t a good option all the time. This opened doors for them to explore more places and get more diversity in their careers.

Choose more diverse careers.

With the boom in technology, it paved the way for the millennials to explore the vast ocean of opportunities. There are a lot of travelers, bloggers, YouTubers, musicians, artists who took their interest from other inspiring personalities from all over the world. Their ability to adapt to this change is something to be appreciative of. This would have been a bit harder for the previous generation to cope up with as they would find it harder to take in all the changes happening around them.

They are Tech-savvy.

According to research conducted by the Pew Research Center and NPR, 39 percent of millennials possess a bachelor’s degree or higher. They can adapt to these technological changes and come up with better solutions to modern-day problems.

Putting off marriage and parenthood.

Since the 1960s, the millennials have started to stay with their parents more. Millennials also wait to get into parenthood as they prefer to explore life as much as possible to settle down. While they do delay, they still want to get married and have children at some point.

Go after assets, not liabilities.

Millennials have found it better to buy assets rather than liabilities that loses its value over time. They no longer prefer things such as cars, luxury goods. Instead, they opt for carpooling to save money, rent goods if they don’t plan on having it for long. And they consider investments in stock markets to multiply their assets.

                                      <ins
                                      class="adsbygoogle"
                                      style="background:none;display:inline-block;max-width:800px;width:100%;height:60px;max-height:60px;"
                                      data-ad-client="ca-pub-5756847696141575"
                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

Choose value over a brand.

People no longer buy clothes just for the sake of a brand. Millennials go for the best brand only if they offer more value than their competitors. With product reviews, comparison and deals sites at the reach of their hands, they have changed the way of shopping for the better. Now the retail stores must take into consideration to offer good products at reasonable prices.

Taking care of their well-being.

With fitness influencers and blogs promoting well-being, the millennials are committing to regular exercise and good habits. They spend time taking care of themselves and staying fit. They are more fitness-focused and this can improve them mentally as well.

Bottomline

The Millennials are reaching their prime working and spending years. Their decisions will sculpt the economy and will play a major role in deciding the future. I think Millennials deserve a chance to stand out and prove what they can do to make things better. From what we’ve seen, they have the capability and possess the right tools to make it happen.

What do you think? Are the Millennials entitled or are they the next generation of empowered and best workers we have ever seen?

Most of us wear a mask and hide our true self in the fear of being judged. People compromise and give up their dreams and vision to end up being someone they aren’t. The job we do, the people we surround us with, the habits we take upon all are our own choices. We must learn to accept it and change it if we don’t like it. Because, if we don’t stand up and decide to change it, no one else will. That’s why it’s really important to go and do what you are meant to do, to find your true self. You are not getting a second chance most of the time, that’s why you have to make each one count. Be ready and on your legs so that when an opportunity knocks at your door, you will be prepared to grab it.

Not all heroes wear capes, but you know that there’s one within you who has been doing it all right from day one. While you focus on fear which is often disguised as practicality, the result at the other side goes unexplored. Don’t lose your true self and choose a path because of the fear of something you never tried out in the first place. Find why you are here and what you’re destined to do. As life’s greatest purpose is to pass on what you know to others, there can’t be any greater pleasure than that.

“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.”
E.E Cummings

Realize your true self.

Realizing your potential and finding what you are capable of doing is only the first step. Most people assume they can’t do something without even trying. That may be something that others force us to believe because they never tried it.

If someone were to tell you that you can never be someone that you dream of being, don’t limit yourself and get demotivated. Only you know yourself better than anyone else. Be ready to accept who you are but never fit into any mold. Because we are not copies of each other. What worked for someone else may not work for you. People speak from their view of how they see it, not how you would see it. Stop comparing yourself to the people around you. The ego inside you always keeps reminding that you are never good enough and you have to keep changing yourself to be more like them. Because you won’t know what is actually enough.

Be quiet and observe.

See yourself for who you are, not how others view you. Sometimes, you have to step back and take a deep breath to hear and understand what’s going on around you. The silence can be deafening too. But don’t let that fear get to you, as it will make you limit yourself to what others think of you. Don’t cage yourself, you are meant for greatness and that will only happen if you see you for who you truly are. Observe the positive and negative things about you and embrace it. When you accept it, then you will begin to see positive changes inside you, giving you a feeling that you’re not bounded anymore. Be ready to take in more good things that will benefit you and ignore the bad things. It’s alright if you were born weak, but it isn’t right to remain that way.

Believe in yourself.

When you believe nothing is ever impossible, there is nothing to lock you down to earth. You can leap high and reach greater heights if you drop the doubt, fear and other factors that drag you down. Fear and doubt are the two major factors that prevent people from going after what they like. A reverse process could be implemented here. Find experience, role models, evidence and facts that support your belief. And that belief now tells you that something is possible instead of the other way around.

We are only limited by our mind and that barrier will break if you believe yourself enough and do what you love.

Listen to your intuition.

There is no such thing as purely rational thought. Sometimes there’s a gut feeling that tells you that you have to do this. We are guided by emotions and emotions will help take shortcuts in arriving at a decision. An inner voice tells you that you like something that you do and you listen to it. When you follow your inner voice, it will guide you to unlock your true self. That doesn’t mean you have to completely ignore your logical decisions. But there should be a balance between intuition and logical decision making. Finding the fine line between these two can be difficult and that’s something that will take time to master.

If you feel like you were born to accomplish something, that feeling was triggered by yourself as a result of the inner voices guiding you.

Find what others think of you.

If you can’t assess yourself, take the help of others and ask them what they think of you. The answer isn’t going to be perfect as we know it. But it will indicate a few things that you may have overlooked and never knew about. You may be excellent at what you do but if you see others complimenting you for your other talents, it’s time to explore to those a bit as well. If you can’t seem to find your true self, let others do the hard part of giving you the options to get started. While this may not prove to work all the time, it certainly can give you an overview of how you are being viewed by someone else.

Some people hear and some people listen, you need to learn to understand the difference.

The real you is what’s underneath all the masks you wear and if you keep looking for it outside, you may never find it. When you understand yourself and your purpose in life gets big enough to conquer your fear, that’s when you know that you have reached your greatest potential.

                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

Build something bigger than yourself.

Before you get started, an idea may just never exist. When you start working on it, they will come to exist and be clearer. And when you’re done building the idea, you will find a sense of completion. Build an idea that would change you and in turn, others around you for the better. When you find yourself adding more value to the people in your life, that’s where your true self lies. A greater self doesn’t vanish or rot away as time passes. It would be something that you pass on to others and inspire them to bring completion to others’ lives. Our lives are bound to each other and that’s exactly the reason why we should make this world a better place for everyone to live.

Bottomline

Realize your true self and connect with people, not to be famous but to serve a greater purpose. If you don’t have the vision to make the world a better place, then you are wasting your life. Have faith in yourself and share it with someone who might be searching for it all along.

Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life. When you understand yourself, you will find peace, and as a result, you will find success quicker than ever before.

Have you taken steps to find your true self yet?

Most people assume that failure in life is something negative, but the truth is that without failure no one can taste what success feels like. After a failure, can someone still be optimistic? Sure. If you train your mind well enough, it can cope up with any problems you throw at it. Is training the mind all that is required to overcome failure?

The difference between a novice and a master is that the master has failed more times than a novice has tried.

                                      class="adsbygoogle"
                                      style="background:none;display:inline-block;max-width:800px;width:100%;height:250px;max-height:250px;"

                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

You can try and fail many times but the real failure is when you stop trying. Failure promotes mental growth as you can deal with problems with ease now that you have gone through so much. Anyone who has tasted success would have experienced a lot of failures. But they don’t complain, rather they work hard and keep trying over and over again until they reach success. To overcome failure, you don’t have to make drastic changes in your lifestyle as others suggest.

It is important to learn from your failures as it teaches how to deal with it if it ever occurs again. But not attempting to learn from it or holding yourself back will give you regrets later when you look back at some point.

                                                      (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Failures are really hard to digest and can sometimes throw you off course from your goals and aspirations. But understanding that it is also a stepping stone to success brings you a sense of comfort and will help you accept it and stay strong.

No matter what life throws at you, you should be willing to get back up and show that you’re fighting another battle that will ultimately take you to success. If you feel that everything is falling apart, use the pieces to reshape and rebuild yourself. Accepting that is the first to overcome failure. Read on as I explain how to overcome failure and lead a happy life.

Be the Best version of yourself.

Why do you want to go and look out for a successful personality when you can be one yourself? Being yourself is not sometimes enough, that’s why you should strive to be a better version of yourself. Be someone who can inspire others to greatness, can help them in hardship, go out of your way to make this a better place. A lonely path can take you to places that no one has ever traveled before whereas following the herd will only get you as far as them. Learn to appreciate that you are unique in your own way and encourage others to lead a better life. The change begins with you.

Take what is useful and leave out the rest.

It can be so easy to absorb everything that you come across and it will be hard to distinguish the good from the bad. Train yourself to adopt only what’s good for you and hone it for perfection. Even if you only know one skill, master it and do it better than anyone else. Keep failing at it until you beat it.

While I agree that there are a lot of bad things in this world, there is still goodness in people’s hearts. If you find something good, learn and nurture it and watch it bring good things to you and the people around. A small act of kindness creates an endless ripple. Success is built from countless failures.

Failure teaches you a lot more than you think.

Failures can be good teachers as they enhance your mind to see your flaws and fix them. Sometimes you have to face failures in order to grow and reach new heights. It is recommended to try and fail rather than do nothing and still fail.

When you’re determined, motivated and have nothing to lose, then you are unstoppable. Be willing to have an open mind to accept criticism and turn them around to grow instead. If you feel you are overwhelmed, take a deep breath, take a step back and realize what is wrong. Sometimes your mind is powerful enough to show the possible solutions to a problem or you can try to get answers from somewhere. More often than not, the solution to every problem lies within yourself.

Keep your Aims Sky High.

When you fail, get back on your legs and work on yourself. Just because you failed a couple of times doesn’t mean you have to give up or settle for something less. When you have a big aim, it is perfectly fine to fail several times. After all, you are destined for much bigger things. The moment you stop giving up, grow and keep doing it over and over again, it becomes an addiction. Even if you don’t reach success, you can rest assured that you gave it your full potential. All the things you learned along the path are yours to keep and will help you somewhere down the line.

Master your inner self.

When you master yourself, you can master everything that’s around you. Ignorance and weakness can prevent you from reaching success even after countless failures. It is important to understand your flaws and work towards correcting them. No one knows you better than yourself and if they say they do they are lying.

Realize your inner potential and beat the odds against you. Prove that you are not someone bound to the walls around you and build yourself an empire to rule.

                                      <ins
                                      class="adsbygoogle"
                                      style="background:none;display:inline-block;max-width:800px;width:100%;height:60px;max-height:60px;"
                                      data-ad-client="ca-pub-5756847696141575"
                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

Forgive yourself.

When you forgive you do not only release the other person. You set yourself free from all of that agony too. Make forgiving yourself a part of your daily life and try not to resent yourself for something that’s happened in the past. It is crucial to not be dragged down by your past, instead focus on what you learned from it and forgive others to get a sense of relief. Failure is discouraging only if you let it remain that way. Focus on rebuilding yourself and never lose sight of your goal.

Live your life fully despite the setbacks.

Failures come to even the best of us and it is how you deal with it, that matters. It is easier to give in and lose your way. But a better way is to smile in the face of adversity and say that you’re not going down that easily.

Most people don’t know their purpose until their late 20s’. They give up way before they even started. Find the inspiration to do things. Sometimes your failures turn out to be your best success story.

“It doesn’t matter what happens but how you take it”, in other words, what matters is your interpretation of the situation and how you take it. Everything will pass in time. What you are going through shall pass too.

Bottomline

A whole world of happiness is waiting on the other side of failures. Failure is a great learning curve and remember, it’s not always too late to change your life. Use your failures as opportunities to grow further and inspire others along the way. If you are waiting for happiness, stop looking for it and start working towards what makes you happy. And that is where happiness is.

The minute you think of giving up, think of the reason why you held on for so long. Remember your origin and your hard times that you faced to get to this point, and that will give you the extra bit of energy you were looking for. Internal motivation is the key to unlocking your potential to keep you going for the long term.

What is Internal Motivation?

Internal motivation is what drives you to go that extra mile. It refers to the characteristic that is driven by internal rewards. Internal or Intrinsic motivation doesn’t concern itself with external factors and is focused only on you alone. Internal motivation is long-lasting as the effect comes from within. External motivations are temporary as external factors are involved.

                                      <ins
                                      class="adsbygoogle"
                                      style="background:none;display:inline-block;max-width:800px;width:100%;height:250px;max-height:250px;"
                                      data-ad-client="ca-pub-5756847696141575"
                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

Internal motivation occurs when you act without any external factors. In other words, it happens when you do something that you like, a hobby or a career that you had a passion for. It should be internally rewarding not for other external reasons such as money, fame, etc. Internally motivated behaviors offer other rewards that offer much higher value such as a sense of feeling that you’re destined for much greater. And a positive feeling that you are doing something for the right reason. When you begin to see results, the sense of achievement is far more wonderful.

Make your life a masterpiece; Imagine no limitations on what you can be, have or do.
Brian Tracy

These are some of the factors to increase intrinsic motivation:

                                      <ins
                                      class="adsbygoogle"
                                      style="background:none;display:inline-block;max-width:800px;width:100%;height:60px;max-height:60px;"
                                      data-ad-client="ca-pub-5756847696141575"
                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

Curiosity:

When people are curious about something, they will want to get to know more about it. This will increase the intrinsic motivation to venture into different unexplored parts and get something done.

The tendency to help others:

People get satisfaction from doing the right things to help out people. Be it helping them mentally, or from a dangerous situation. This increases intrinsic motivation and pushes them to do some more which in turn spreads positivity to others.

Challenge:

When faced with a challenge, people break barriers and overcome them. Setting goals and achieving them for the personal growth boosts self-esteem and their overall value.

Greater purpose:

When you feel that your actions have a greater purpose, then you would be inclined to do that no matter what. Psychologists call this “re-framing your narrative.” Even a small task can increase your intrinsic motivation if you understand that there’s greater good waiting on the other side.

The Power of Internal motivation:

No matter how hard or impossible it is, never lose sight of your goal. Internal motivation drives you to achieve heights that no others can. And the most important factor is that it keeps you going for so long where most others may end up giving up halfway.

                                      <ins
                                      class="adsbygoogle"
                                      style="background:none;display:inline-block;max-width:800px;width:100%;height:60px;max-height:60px;"
                                      data-ad-client="ca-pub-5756847696141575"
                                      data-ad-slot="6869125482"
                                      data-ad-format="auto"
                                      data-full-width-responsive="true">
                                      </ins>

If you find yourselves doing something that you don’t like to, for any extrinsic motivation such as money, there might an end to it. Rather find something more rewarding, interesting and something you wouldn’t do without. This will help you come up with awesome ideas and be someone who you always wanted to be. A feeling which would’ve never come if you were focused on extrinsic motivations.

Final words:

Are you looking for long term happiness and serious motivation to pursue things that you like? Find the intrinsic motivation within you. It can be so easy to get caught up in other things that offer lesser value. Don’t let it cloud your purpose and judgment. Realize your potential, gather all the courage you need and start today on your path towards a well-balanced life.

If you’re looking for intrinsic motivation or any help with balancing out the priorities, think about all the things you’ve endured and how much you’ve grown. Isn’t it reason enough to do more out of your life?
